Tampa, FL—The Tampa Bay Times reports that the Tampa Bay Rays have banned domestic violence counselors from their facility, and have removed all domestic violence training from their entire team.

In the days following the reports, the Rays were asked for comment, but didn’t respond to a request for comment.

A source tells the Times that the organization’s policy, which goes into effect on July 1, is to only allow staff and volunteers to be involved in the field training and support of the team, and to not include anyone who has been involved in a domestic violence incident.

According to the source, the organization has a zero-tolerance policy for domestic violence and will have no further comment.

The Times adds that the policy has been implemented without consultation from the team’s leadership or owners, and that they were told that this policy would be implemented in a similar manner as the Rays policy.

The Rays also had no comment.
